Sunday 7th November 2010, Pinar San Jose and the wind has finally gone?

Well for a while apparently, and then by Tuesday 40 knots plus with some rain, then again it may change, sometime the weather forecasting around he is a little hit and miss.

SWMBO has finally got me to succumb to a diet of sorts, I've agreed that I will eat whatever she cooks and eats herself, I drawn the line at what she has for breakfast on week days though. As I've mentioned in a previous blog, it's just the sweepings from the bottom of a bird cage with water, eugh! Of course that does not account for this mornings, as she is still tucked up in bed, 10:35 am mind, reading, after being fed her eggs and toast.

Now I like to eat the good wholesome stuff, like chips, burgers, pizza, pies, you know healthy stuff like that and stuffed as many E numbers as possible, says so in the scriptures, stands to reason doesn't it?

So she says I've got to try her stuff, rice, fish, vegetables (preferably lightly boiled so you break your teeth eating them), soup (vegetable, preferably lightly boiled.....etc.) Apparently if I don't give it a try she is threatening to hide my beer! How low can you get. So we have been giving it a go and to be honest my beer bel, er tummy, may be receding a tad.

Mind you I was always a pretty regular guy before, but now. with all those extra veggies, I'm now VERY regular. That sword fish with chilied rice and carrots last night certainly did the trick and it became a close run thing. The normal saunter turned into more of a bum clenching dash to trap 1 in toilet block B, very quickly followed by the noise of a flock of starling taking off. I'm reaching for the preparation “H” as I type. I've also put the bog roll in the fridge as a precaution. Mind you, the litre of cheap red vino and the odd beer or three, might not have helped either.

So today we may probably try a cycle ride up to top of the hill and back again, followed by SWMBO doing her hair and a fair bit of reading, busy day ahead?

Day became overcast so we decided to stuff the cycle ride and have a drive down to Tarifa, Europe's most southerly town, 38 miles along a very quiet E5 road and we were there in 30 minutes. Managed the almost impossible task of getting a parking space after only one circumnavigation of the town. Mind, I expected it to be towed or clamped when we got back, neither actually, as it turned out.

On the way through, and back, Tricia took so many pictures of the extensive wind farms that she ran out of battery power on her camera, twice! I have included only a few.

Tarifa.
As the weather wasn't too good the town was probably not shown in it's best light. It's small and completely dominated by it's ferry port, with a ferry getting you to Africa in 35 minutes. Plan to do that before we leave this place, couple of weeks time I guess.

On the way back SWMBO wanted to visit Bolonia, a small village that competes with Tarifa, in the high season, for the wind surfer brigade. Well it's a dead and alive hole in the off season I can tell you, but we bumped into a cow on the road back!

Guess?

Weather was getting overcast with the threat of rain but was sunny when we arrived back at the MS.

We've watched about 4 films so far and of the couple of hundred Tony B. has lent us there is still quite a few we are looking forward to seeing.

Tuesday 8th November, another dull day so it's washing the sheets and although Tony has proved that they can be done in the twin tub, it's off to the machine 'cos SWMBO can't be arsed.

My jobs are:- scan and copy all our documents as quite a few have been changed and/or added to, check all the supports under the MS, fill / empty tanks, order another charge controller from Maplins, back up the pictures from the PC, and read.

Temperature is down to a bollock numbing 19°C and SWMBO has been cuddling up to her penguin most nights, but from what I see on the internet, not too good back in the UK and worst to come!
